This page has details for every event that is taking place at this year’s Summer of Sonic convention. Use this information to plan your day and take advantage of all the cool things on show throughout the day.
Doors will open at 10:00, and the convention officially kicks off at 11:00 at the Main Stage area, giving you plenty of time to enter the venue and prepare for the day’s events. Summer of Sonic 2012 finishes at 19:30.

MAIN STAGE
NEVER MIND THE BUZZBOMBERS Main Stage, 12:00 – 12:30 Never Mind the Buzzbombers is coming back to Summer of Sonic – giving you all the chance to win prizes whilst hanging out with some of the Sonic scene’s coolest celebrities! Svend ‘Dreadknux’ Joscelyne and Adam ‘T-Bird’ Tuff once again do quizzical battle with special guests Johnny Gioeli and Steve Lycett. Two members of the audience will be picked from the crowd to assist each team, with the winner getting a bunch of prizes! |
JAM WITH JUN Main Stage, 13:00 – 13:45 Legendary Sonic sound director Jun Senoue will be performing solo, playing a number of hits from Sonic’s huge back catalogue of catchy game music. Jun is also going to have a little help from some fans. Daniele Narducci and Jasmine Lindsay will be singing live on stage, while Jun plays along with them. Two musically-gifted fans will also be jamming with Jun – Antony Turner will be performing a track with the Sonic composer on guitar, and Daryl Sautter will be playing on violin. |
SUMO DIGITAL Q&A Main Stage, 14:00 – 14:45 Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed is put under the spotlight at Summer of Sonic, and lead producer from SUMO Digital Steve Lycett will be attending the main stage to answer some of your questions about the game. ASK IIZUKA-SAN Main Stage, 15:00 – 16:00 We catch up with Sonic Team leader and Sonic Generations producer Takashi Iizuka to learn more about the franchise we all love. This is the time for fans to ask their most burning questions to the man who has the final say on the Sonic series. What’s his favourite game? How does he feel about the fanbase? COSPLAY CONTEST ENTRY: Cosplay Desk, 11:30 – 14:30 FINALISTS ANNOUNCED: Main Stage, 16:00 FINAL: Main Stage, 16:30 – 17:00 Do you have the swiftness of Sonic, the technical know-how of Tails or the strength of Storm? If you have a passion for cosplay then we’d love to see your creations at the event! To enter, head to the Cosplay Desk where we can take your name down and take a photo of your costume. After entries close at 14:30, the judges will look at all entrants and select the final ten to be judged on stage! |
MAIN STAGE FAN ANIMATIONS BoozermaN: ??? Sonic Paradox: 12:45 Frobman – In Brief: 16:15, 17:15 The Summer of Sonic has always been about celebrating the huge fan base that exists for the spiky blue blur. This year is no different. BoozermaN has returned to create a special animation. Frobman, the creator of Sonic in Brief, will be bringing some new chapters in the saga, while Sonic Paradox will be breaking from tradition and presenting something completely different! |
CLUB SONIC Main Stage, 17:30 – 18:15 The biggest Sonic party kicks off once more at Summer of Sonic 2012. Club Sonic is a non-stop mix of popular music tracks, hosted by Svend ‘Dreadknux’ Joscelyne and Rory ‘Roareye’ Joscelyne. If you know the song, sing along! This year, Club Sonic will be focusing on the hottest remixes – and there will be freebies for the audience if they dance along too! Club Sonic precedes Crush 40′s explosive live performance at the end of the day, and is a sign-off from Summer of Sonic volunteer staff. Come and party before the final act! |
CRUSH 40 Main Stage, 18:30 – 19:30 Sonic sound director Jun Senoue and rock singer Johnny Gioeli join forces once more as Crush 40, to give an explosive live performance at the end of the day. The band is best known for its huge array of Sonic theme songs, from Sonic Adventure’s Open Your Heart to Sonic & the Black Knight’s Live Life – and will performing some of their greatest hits on stage! |

COMICS ZONE Meet Nigel Kitching and Nigel Dobbyn Win original Sonic the Comic artwork Experience Sonic the Comic: Online Into your comics? There’s a special place where you can chill at Summer of Sonic that caters specifically to you! Meet legends from the 1990s Sonic the Comic book, Nigel Kitching (writer, artist) and Nigel Dobbyn (artist), and have a chat about the industry and their time with the Egmont Fleetway STC series. You can also meet the team behind the fan revival, Sonic the Comic: Online, who are also holding a contest to win an original art piece drawn by popular STC contributor Richard Elson. |
GAMES ZONE Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode II The latest Sonic the Hedgehog games are ready and waiting for you to play! An entire wall of our convention hall is dedicated to video games – the medium where it all began for the blue blur! Eight consoles will be primed with a multiplayer preview of SUMO Digital’s upcoming Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, and fans will get their first public play of the game some four months before it’s released! This year’s platforming extravaganza, Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode II, will also be available to play. |
SIGNING DESK TAKASHI IIZUKA: 12:30 – 13:30 / 17:30 – 18:30 JUN SENOUE, JOHNNY GIOELI: 14:15 – 15:15 / 17:00 – 18:00 STEVE LYCETT: 16:00 – 17:00 Our special guests will be spending some time meeting and greeting fans throughout the day – if you want an unforgettable experience, come along and say hello to the men behind some of your favourite Sonic memories. To make the day as comfortable and enjoyable as possible for everyone, there will be some rules applied to the Signing Desk. Please make sure you read these, linked below, so you are not disappointed on the day! |
ART AREA ART CONTEST: 11:00 – 14:30 CONTEST RESULTS: Main Stage, 17:10 ARTIST ALLEY: Miranda L. Ketchen, Kieran Gates, Jessica Findlay Sonic fans love to draw the blue blur almost as much as they like to play as him! Luckily we have loads of tables at Summer of Sonic 2012 so that you can sit down and scribble your favourite characters to your heart’s content. Some pens, pencils and paper will be provided but if you want to bring your own material that is fine! There will be a special seating area for parents to chill out while you do your thing, too. An art contest will run throughout the day, and prizes will be handed out on stage to the best pieces of art in an Under-15s and Over-15s category. To enter, your art piece must be drawn from scratch at the Summer of Sonic convention on Saturday, and not prepared in advance. |
SUMMER OF SONIC ART MASTERCLASS Downstairs Art Room, 12:00 – 13:00 / 16:00 – 17:00 Nigel Kitching and Nigel Dobbyn will be hosting two Art Masterclass sessions throughout the day. The pair will be sharing their knowledge with a small group of keen fans looking to build on their skills, using past works and live tutorials. Each Masterclass will run for 60 minutes, and sessions can accommodate 25 people each. Places for the second session at 16:00 will be offered on Saturday, at the Information Desk from 15:00. Please ask there to book your place – when spaces are all filled up we will put out a sign so you’re aware of any full bookings. |
MERCHANDISE STAND Official Sonic Merchandise Stand Crush 40 Merchandise Stand You’ve enjoyed the convention, so why not take home a memento of the day so that you can treasure it forever? The official Sonic Merchandise company and an official Crush 40 stand will be on the show floor, offering exclusive t-shirts, CDs and other merchandise. Some items will be things that you’ve always wanted but never had a chance to get until now. Others will only be available at Summer of Sonic 2012. |

Well, you’re in luck – the blue blur is never one to miss a party, and the Summer of Sonic is no exception! FOOD AND DRINK Main Hall Cafés on Lower Floor and Balcony Level Getting peckish? Don’t worry – there will be café catering on both floors of the main hall, offering a selection of snacks and beverages. On the menu: Hot Dogs and Chili Dogs, a selection of sandwiches, baguettes and burgers, hot pies and pastries, crisps, confectionary and cakes. Soft drinks and hot drinks are available. Prices TBC. No alcohol is permitted within the venue. |
