FIFTH International Sonic Convention - July 7 - Brighton, UK

GUEST: Sonic the Comic Legends, Nigel Dobbyn and Nigel Kitching

We are proud to announce that Nigel Dobbyn and Nigel Kitching, two of the men behind the legendary Sonic the Comic series, will be returning to Summer of Sonic 2012 to meet and greet with fans and to share their artistic talents.

Sonic the Comic, or STC to its fans, was an official fortnightly comic book dedicated to the adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog and his Freedom Fighter pals – which consisted of official characters (Tails, Knuckles, Chaotix) to original ones (Johnny Lightfoot, Shortfuse the Cybernik, Tekno). For British kids growing up in the 1990s, it was a fantastic expansion of the Sonic universe.

Nigel and Nigel are no strangers to the Summer of Sonic convention, with Kitching attending the very first event in 2008 and Dobbyn most recently behind an awesome collaboration piece with Archie comics artist Tracy Yardley! in 2011. We can’t wait to have them back this year, and we know you’ve all been waiting to see them again too. 7th July just can’t come quickly enough!

  2. RikaFurude says:

    Yaaaay!

  3. Allybee says:

I wonder if they would be kind enough to sign one of my old Sonic Comics? I loved Nigel Dobbyn’s Knuckles stories especially the fight scene with Doctor Zachary and his yellow robots! Nigel Kitching’s comic strips with Sonic were fantastically drawn. Good memories. I haven’t had the chance to meet and greet them yet, but I’ll make a big effort this year.

  4. Spikey says:

Wow wow wow wow!!!!! : D

  5. shadowhatesomochao says:

    cool :D
I still hope I will get a ticket on wave 2

  6. ScourgeTheHedgehog says:

Personally, I was hoping for Tracy Yardley as I was hoping for a Scourge and Tails artwork from him this year, but oh well, hopefully he might be there but if he’s not, then he’s not, as long as I get to SoS I’m happy! :D

  7. Ellie says:

Both these guys are amazing, its an honour to see them coming again. @ Allbee, they have always signed comics for me in the past so I’m sure they would be kind enough to do the same for you. ^^

  8. I can’t wait to see what posters Nigel Dobbyn creates this year…if I get to go to SOS’12. If I do I will try and have a good chat with Kitching as the previous years I always stumble my words because I’m nervous. These guys are great.

  9. Leeann H. says:

    SHRIEKING

(also Mr. Dobbyn was kind enough to draw me one of my characters from my comic! X’3)

  10. James Hunt says:

    DEMON SUPER SONIC Returns.

    • ScourgeTheHedgehog says:

O.o Fleetway… But Scourge is still no.1 evil hedgehog in my books! ^_^ XD :D

      • L. T. says:

You do know that Fleetway is the name of the publishing company, right? As in… not Super Sonic’s name?

I have no clue where that idea originated from but I do feel as though people need correcting on it.

        • ScourgeTheHedgehog says:

Yes I know, the reason I said that is because he’s Fleetway SS, but a lot of the fans just shorten the name to Fleetway because it’s their version SS, just easier to say really X3
